October 2015 Pumeli Art of Relaxation Review

There are things in our life that truly test us. We all have our stories to tell, we all have had events thrown into our lives that we could never have been prepared for. My life took a turn at the age of 15. Fighting through the pain and emotional devastation of losing my older brother took a very long time. My biggest outlet then was writing and it still is to this day. Putting a pen to paper was my own form of meditation and through the years, I realized how necessary it is to have something that allowed you to just relax and purge the stress of each day. That being said, I'd like to introduce my dolls to a fabulous new tool to do just that....Pumeli Art of Relaxation Box.

Pumeli, who kindly sent me this box for review, is a brand new subscription service that revolves around 'The Art of Relaxation'.The cost is $49.99 per month and 'filled with teas and textures designed to help busy women slow, down, unplug and grab a little “me” time. Each month brings a new theme around relaxation and includes artisanal tea to soothe your soul, beautiful paper for your thoughts, and handcrafted goods that evoke mindfulness while empowering artisans around the world.' In other words, it's something we all need!

The debut Pumeli box draws inspiration from the Elephants. Why you ask? Because they are all about slow and mindful living. Pumeli says they are inspired by their creativity, curiosity and sense of touch. Unlike Elephants, which use touch as a primary form of connecting with each other and their environment, humans are touch-deprived. We are so involved with visual stimulation (TV, our phones, ect) that we have numbed our sense of touch

All of the items featured in this box were chosen to help bring awareness to your physical being and create mindful moments using your sense of touch. Even the texture of this information card stimulates your fingertips.

The Tea Spot Loose Leaf Rooibos Tea --- Doesn't every relaxing moment need a cup of tea? Uh...yes! Pumeli selected this calming caffeine free blend to keep you cozy in crisp autumn days. They suggest taking a moment run your hands through the leaves and enjoy the earthy colors and textures.

Organic Kitchen Towel --- This is amazing. Not only is it pretty, the quality of the fabric feels very high end to me.  The pattern was designed by Brooklyn based textile artist, Jane Buck, but manufactured fair-trade in India with water based non-toxic inks. It's already hanging in my kitchen. Love!

Elephant Vanilla Chai Tea --- honestly, I'm not sure I have ever had Chai. These is for those days when you don't have the time to make a full pot of tea. Just add water or hot milk and inhale the aroma of spices like cinnamon, clove and cardamom.

Hand carved Wooden Stamp --- jIt took me a minute to realize exactly what this was. The hand carved wooden printing block was made in India and is traditionally used for fabric printing. Pumeli suggests taking a few mindful moments studying the ornate design by keeping your awareness of the texture and the grain of the wood in your hands.

Hand Sewn Journal --- Remember how I said writing is my meditation tool? The outer cover of this journal is wrap around and was inspired by an elephants trunk. It's crafted with fiber from 100% certified recycled plastic bottles.

I love this stuff! The Mr. Ellie Pooh recycled paper is handmade with elephant dung (no it's not gross!). Pumeli suggests using this journal at the end of each day to take note of the people and things you are most grateful for. This simple but mindful act can put your mind at ease and help you fall asleep on a positive note.

This is a box that not only contained an amazing array of items, it also something much more important... Permission to unwind. Use the tools Pumeli provides to take that time for yourself! Relax, Reflect, and treat yourself to a box. It's an unforgettable experience!
