Books. That word alone makes me deliriously happy when I hear it. For as long as I can remember, I have been a literature addict. I love to read and collect pretty much any book I can get my greedy booknerd hands on! Books make you shut out conventional ideas of the real world and fall headlong into exciting and impossible worlds filled with magic, adventure, love, humor, ect. The possibilities are endless. While I honestly do read pretty much ever genre, my favorites tend to be from the YA category. Naturally, I love finding book subscription boxes that cater to a YA enthusiast like myself. This month i finally had the opportunity to try my most lusted after book sub - OwlCrate!
OwlCrate, who very kindly sent me this box for review, is a YA book lovers heaven. The cost is $29.99 (plus $6.99 s&h) per month and each box will feature a newly released YA novel and bookish goodies. Need a bit of extra incentive to subscribe? Use coupon code NEWMEMBER at signup for 10% off your first box!
The anticipation!!! It's killing me! Seriously, I've obsessed over this box for months and now it's finally here. My Precious.... (Pun intended!).
The April OwlCrate theme is one every YA enthusiast is familiar with... Dystopia! It's the biggest genre at the moment and one I personally have a great love for.... When it's done correctly, anyway! The theme card also gives you the details on each item featured in this months box.
WICKED Decal --- The Maze Runner is one of the Dystopian based series that really made me love the genre. This decal created by Shailey Ann Designs is a great way to show off your love for the series!
1984 by George Orwell Notebook --- A notebook is always something I love and will use. This notebook from Manuscript features artwork from the UK first edition of the novel. OwlCrate says to "Remember, Big Brother is watching!"
Mockingjay Bracelet --- I love anything from The Geeky Cauldron! They really do have the best bookish goodies, don't they? This bracelet is perfect and beautiful. Represent your allegiance to Katniss and District 12!
Hunger Games Magnet --- OwlCrate teamed up with Half Blood Prints this month to create two different styles of Hunger Games inspired minimalist magnets. I love this one!
Coaster --- First, I'm a bit of a coaster freak. I've talked about this in previous reviews so you know I get overly excited when I get a new one. This one was designed by Evie Bookish and is inspired by the book Shatter Me (which I have but is currently sitting on my TBR pile!). It now sits prominently on my bedside table next to my reading chair!
Flawed by Cecelia Ahern --- Ah, the main event! I seriously had a fit of excitement when I saw this in my box. I've been very eagerly awaiting this books release! It's the first book in a new dystopian series and the debut YA novel from Cecelia Ahern (who is a fabulous writer, btw!)
Just look at this book! It's just as beautiful when it's naked! I tend to get a tad overly excited when this happens. Anyways, here's the synopsis from Amazon:
"Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found FLAWED.
In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society in which perfection is paramount and flaws are punished. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything."
Gah! I'm just so ready to read this!!
In addition to a mini poster, subscribers also received a lovely note from the author and this fantastic FLAWED temporary tattoo (which, despite being nearly 30 years old, I am totally sporting right now).
I will admit, I am ridiculously giddy about this box. I've been salivating over OwlCrate for months anyways and I'm hooked after my first box. I love the theme, the book selection, the various bookish goodies that tie into the theme.... It's all pure bookish perfection and I'm already eagerly awaiting next months box!
