You know, I was in a reading slump for a really long time and it saddened me. Months went buy and I just couldn't find anything to peak my interest. However, my dry spell broke back in February and I've been binge reading ever since. I'm up to 42 so far and that number will continue for awhile, I think. I give credit to amazing book subscription boxes for a steady stream of fantastic books. Aren't they just wonderful? Today I'm trying a new one and I couldn't be more excited! It's the July My World Of Books Box.
My World of Books, who kindly sent me this box for review, is a new book based monthly subscription service. The cost per month is $35.00 ($52.00 internationally) and each box will include a fantasy novel, 3-4 bookish items, a bookmark and various author swag. If you don't want to commit yet, they are currently offering a one month trial box for $31.00.
Included is a small information card that lists each item you received in your box.
The first items I pulled out were this little swag items. They feature several authors (one of them is signed as well) and they also contain the codes for 2 free ebooks.
Butterbeer Lip Balm --- Handmade and All natural from etsy shop CherryPitCrafts. So, when we went to Orlando a few years ago and I tasted Butterbeer, I was addicted. I mean, holy crap is it delicious! This lip balm captures that flavor perfectly. It's my new favorite thing...
Nicole Miller Notepad --- I love the look of this notebook and the way it's set up on the inside. I'm one of those people who really loves to jot down random things on paper so it's a useful item!
MWoB Bookmark --- Each month will feature a new bookmark from My World of Books.
GoT Dragonfly Necklace --- From Etsy shop Weedeals. This simple necklace was inspired by the one worn by Sansa on Game of Thrones. I love it. I have a thing for dragonfly jewelry and GoT so it suits me just fine!
A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet --- Oh! New Series! Ya'll know I love me some Fantasy novels and this new release is book 1 of The Kingmaker Chronicals. Here's the synopsis from Amazon:
"KINGDOMS WILL RISE AND FALL FOR HER...BUT NOT IF SHE CAN HELP IT
Catalia "Cat" Fisa lives disguised as a soothsayer in a traveling circus. She is perfectly content avoiding the danger and destiny the Gods-and her homicidal mother-have saddled her with. That is, until Griffin, an ambitious warlord from the magic-deprived south, fixes her with his steely gaze and upsets her illusion of safety forever.
Griffin knows Cat is the Kingmaker, the woman who divines the truth through lies. He wants her as a powerful weapon for his newly conquered realm-until he realizes he wants her for much more than her magic. Cat fights him at every turn, but Griffin's fairness, loyalty, and smoldering advances make him increasingly hard to resist and leave her wondering if life really does have to be short, and lived alone. "
I really enjoyed this box. I liked all the items individually. I loved the book selection though and I see a lot of potential here! I'm anxious and excited to see this new subscription grow and evolve.
