August 2016 LitJoy Crate Review

I think I have organized my bookshelves about 20 times this week. I don't know why though. I just feel a compulsive need to rearrange things sometimes. I'm one of those people that loves to look at my books almost as much as I love reading them. And now, thanks to my August LitJoy Crate  I have another pretty book to ogle.

If you aren't aware, LitJoy Crate is a monthly YA book subscription service (they offer other types of book boxes as well!). The cost is $29.99 per month (plus s+h) and subscribers will receive a new release YA novel and other bookish goodies that coordinate with the books theme.

This month's theme is Gothic Murder Mystery and I have been super excited about it! I adore books, films, and tv shows set in this particular genre. I've recently started watching Penny Dreadful and I am now quite obsessed with it.

The included information card gives you all the details of the items featured in this month's box.

The Werewolves of Millers Hollow Game --- Oh, how fun! It's a supernatural role play party game. This 'who-dun-it' game takes place in a small village haunted by werewolves. Will you be a villager, a werewolf, or the lovers? Cool!

Fierce Reads Tote Bag --- This isn't listed on the card so I'm assuming it's just a little bonus item. Ivan always use a new tote bag and this one is quite large too!

Chatbooks Coupon --- I've never honestly heard of Chatbook's before but it sound great. Chatbooks creates beautiful 60 page, 6x6 photo books from your Instagram feed. Simple, fun, and LitJoy Crate has given subscribers this $20 gift card to try them out!

Pique Tea --- Ok, at first, I was kinda like 'what is this?' But this stuff is freaking awesome. They are Tea Crystals! Created through a slow brew process that extracts fresh flavor and nutrients of whole leaf tea in a crystal form. It's super convenient and there's a $5 off coupon included in case you want more!

Rifle Paper Co. Pocket Notebook --- The notebooks were the spoiler for this month and I was so happy to see them. I love Rifle Paper and these are gorgeous. The gold detailing is gorgeous and they are the perfect pocket size. LitJoy Crate also included this fun, beautiful gold quill pen too!

Art Print --- This was included with the book packaging and was listed on the front of the info card. I absolutely adore it. It's a custom designed print by Natashia from @canary_jane. It's simple but beautiful and contains a quote from Jane Eyre. It will be nicely framed and displayed on my bookcase very soon!

The Guilded Cage by Lucinda Gray --- Ah, the main event. Don't you just love holding a book in your hands? I do! Here's the synopsis from Amazon:

"After growing up on a farm in Virginia, Walthingham Hall in England seems like another world to sixteen-year-old Katherine Randolph. Her new life, filled with the splendor of upper class England in the 1820s, is shattered when she discovers the corpse of her brother George in a lake on the estate-the tragic accidental drowning of a young man, the coroner reports, despite the wound to George's head.

Katherine is expected to observe the mourning customs and get on with her life, but she can't accept that her brother's death was an accident. A bitter poacher prowls the estate, and strange visitors threaten the occupants of the house. There's a rumor, too, that a wild animal stalks the woods of Walthingham.
Can Katherine retain her sanity long enough to find out the truth? Or will her brother's killer claim her life, too?"
It's quite a thin book but it sounds fantastic and that cover is just beautiful!

All in all, I enjoyed this box. I liked the theme and the book selection and the extra bookish items were on point. I will admit to being slightly disappointed that there wasn't a signed bookplate this month but it's not a huge issue. I'm still happy with it and I look forward to September's box!
