October 2016 OwlCrate Review & Coupon

Again with the sick kid... Ugh! I think my family has been sicker more in the last month than the last couple years combined. While the weather changes don't help, the real culprit continues to be allergies and farmers burning the fields that surround us. I am so ready to be done with stuffy noses and yucky coughing! The only thing I like about being sick and trapped indoors is the fact that I get to read a lot more. Now I get to crack open a new story thanks to the October OwlCrate!

OwlCrate, if you don't already know, is a YA book lovers heaven. The cost is $29.99 (plus $6.99 s&h) per month and each box will feature a newly released YA novel and bookish goodies. Need a bit of extra incentive to subscribe? Use coupon code NEWMEMBER at signup for 10% off your first box!

I actually managed to avoid spoilers this month so I got an even bigger kick out of opening up my box!

The theme for October is 'Once Upon A Dream' and the enclosed card gives you all the magical details on the items featured in this month's box. There is also a new pin showing off the artwork on the back of the information card.

Button Bookmark --- How cute is this? This bookmark is handmade by My Heart My Tribe and it is awesome. It's large and I don't think I'll be able to easily misplace it which is great!

Pocket Notebook --- I'm a massive fan of anything Wizard of Oz (thanks to my late aunt who had a HUGE collection. Seriously, she had a Christmas tree each year that was completely wizard of oz themed.). This notebook from The Unemployed Philosophers Guild is adorable and is designed to resemble your own little passport to the magical land of Oz!

Bangle Charm Bracelet --- I love when they include jewelry in my OwlCrate! This particular bracelet was crafted as a collaboration between Owlcrate and The Geeky Cauldron.

A better look at it. Isn't it pretty? It was inspired by Sleeping Beauty and is 100% exclusive to Owlcrate subscribers.

Whosits & Whatsits Beanie --- Ok, we all know this is pretty freaking fabulous. Seriously, I am loving it! The beanie is inspired by Peter Pan and is not only cute but also very nicely made. It's soft, comfy and I can't wait till I can wear it!

Vassa In The Night by Sarah Porter --- I've been looking forward to this book for months now so I'm so ready to get reading! Here's the synopsis from Barnes & Noble:

"In the enchanted kingdom of Brooklyn, the fashionable people put on cute shoes, go to parties in warehouses, drink on rooftops at sunset, and tell themselves they’ve arrived. A whole lot of Brooklyn is like that now—but not Vassa’s working-class neighborhood.

In Vassa’s neighborhood, where she lives with her stepmother and bickering stepsisters, one might stumble onto magic, but stumbling out again could become an issue. Babs Yagg, the owner of the local convenience store, has a policy of beheading shoplifters—and sometimes innocent shoppers as well. So when Vassa’s stepsister sends her out for light bulbs in the middle of night, she knows it could easily become a suicide mission.

But Vassa has a bit of luck hidden in her pocket, a gift from her dead mother. Erg is a tough-talking wooden doll with sticky fingers, a bottomless stomach, and a ferocious cunning. With Erg’s help, Vassa just might be able to break the witch’s curse and free her Brooklyn neighborhood. But Babs won’t be playing fair...."

And yay! Signed bookplate! Signed books always make things super special to me!

You also receive the usual author note to Owlcrate subscribers and this special bonus Vassa In The Night tattoo!

As you know, each month, Owlcrate tucks a card in the bottom of your box with next month's theme and a spoiler. The November box theme is Wonderland  and I may have squealed a bit when I saw that. I know what the book will be now and I am PUMPED!

Has there ever been an OwlCrate box that I didn't adore? Obviously not. They are my favorite monthly book subscription for a reason and it isn't hard to understand why. They deliver a bit of magic each month and I can honestly say I would rather cancel every other box I subscribe to than give this one up. It's brilliant!
