Ok, so I think it's pretty apparent to anyone that knows me that I am obsessed with books. I can't help it! I love literature and nothing makes me happier than holding a real book in my hands, with that in mind, I am on a mission. I get emails all the time asking me about new book related subscription boxes and I am making it my mission to try them all out, one at a time. Today's box of the bookish variety is The Wordy Traveler!
The Wordy Traveler, who kindly sent me this box for review, is a quarterly luxury book subscription box for "those with Wanderlust that want to give back. There are two subscription options available: The Full Suitcase option (featured in this review) Is $109.99 per quarter and features "a new amazing destination is featured with three curated books, a premium ethically sourced tea that evokes the featured region and custom art print to inspire your inner adventurer! Special surprises from around the world will be slipped in throughout the year." Also available is the Backpacking Edition which costs $49.99 per quarter but it includes only one book instead of three.
This box is totally new to me so I am really excited to see what kind of wonderful things it holds!
How fantastic is that? This box gives back! With every subscription, you are providing a girl with a years worth of textbooks and your continuing subscription gives women and girls around the world access to education, vaccines, and an improved quality of life. That's what really makes this box special and makes it worth the larger price tag.
The included information card provides you with a list of the items you will find in your box.
Guayusa Spice Tea & Container --- This is an ethically sourced organic tea blend with Guayusa from Ecuador, lemongrass, and cinnamon. I am excited to try it and I love that the included a tin to put the loose Tea into.
The Wordy Traveler Tote Bag --- With summer approaching, tote bags are always a handy thing to have around. This one features the Wordy Traveler logo and is made of thick sturdy canvas. Perfect to throw in a few books and supplies to take to the beach!
This box included 3 books which I was super excited about! Here's a bit about each of them from Amazon:
The Lost City of Z by David Grann --- "In 1925, the legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett ventured into the Amazon jungle, in search of a fabled civilization. He never returned. Over the years countless perished trying to find evidence of his party and the place he called “The Lost City of Z.” In this masterpiece of narrative nonfiction, journalist David Grann interweaves the spellbinding stories of Fawcett’s quest for “Z” and his own journey into the deadly jungle, as he unravels the greatest exploration mystery of the twentieth century. "
Turn Right At Machu Picchu by Mark Adams --- "In 1911, Hiram Bingham III climbed into the Andes Mountains of Peru and “discovered” Machu Picchu. While history has recast Bingham as a villain who stole both priceless artifacts and credit for finding the great archeological site, Mark Adams set out to retrace the explorer’s perilous path in search of the truth—except he’d written about adventure far more than he’d actually lived it. In fact, he’d never even slept in a tent.
Turn Right at Machu Picchu is Adams’ fascinating and funny account of his journey through some of the world’s most majestic, historic, and remote landscapes guided only by a hard-as-nails Australian survivalist and one nagging question: Just what was Machu Picchu?"
The Good Girl's Guide To Getting Lost by Rachel Friedman --- "Rachel Friedman has always been the consummate good girl who does well in school and plays it safe, so the college grad surprises no one more than herself when, on a whim (and in an effort to escape impending life decisions), she buys a ticket to Ireland, a place she has never visited. There she forms an unlikely bond with a free-spirited Australian girl, a born adventurer who spurs Rachel on to a yearlong odyssey that takes her to three continents, fills her life with newfound friends, and gives birth to a previously unrealized passion for adventure.
As her journey takes her to Australia and South America, Rachel discovers and embraces her love of travel and unlocks more truths about herself than she ever realized she was seeking. Along the way, the erstwhile good girl finally learns to do something she’s never done before: simply live for the moment."
Photo Print --- Every box includes a fine art print like this one. I love the stonework on all these temple ruins. It's fascinating to think about the people that built them so long ago!
Personally, I love everything about this box. I know, I know, some of you may be put off by the cost but I think that it's worth it when you're supporting such a truly worthy cause. You're not only getting some beautiful items for yourself, you're also helping to better someone's life and that's something you just can't put a price on!
