June 2017 Owlcrate Review & Coupon

You know, I stare at my bookshelves every day and wonder just exactly how I have managed to accumulate this many books. Subscription boxes account for some but mostly it's due to my sheer lack of willpower. My shelves are filled, yet I keep buying. Seriously, I went to run an errand the other day and thought 'hey, I'll just pop by Goodwill and see what's new. I won't buy anything.'. I walked out with 8 books. To be fair, I only spent $6 though. Goodwill is my life saver on books, otherwise I'd be broke. And since we are talking about books, how 'bout we open up the June Owlcrate?

OwlCrate, if you don't already know, is a YA book lovers heaven. The cost is $29.99 (plus $6.99 s&h) per month and each box will feature a newly released YA novel and bookish goodies. Need a bit of extra incentive to subscribe? Use coupon code WELCOME10 at signup for 10% off your first box!

Owlcrate is one of those boxes that just make me feel immediately giddy when I look at what awaits me inside.

The June theme is Make It Out Alive and the enclosed card gives you a brief look at each of the items featured in this month's box.

Bath Bomb --- I love bath bombs! They are one of my favorite beauty/bath products. What I love even more? When a bath bomb has something special inside. These were crafted exclusively for Owlcrate by Fizzy Fairy Apothecary and inside each one lies a Divergent inspired faction charm!

Magnet --- Created exclusively for Owlcrate by Little Inklings Design. An Ember In The Ashes was one of my favorite books of 2016 and this quote is beautiful.

Patch ---
An Owlcrate exclusive from Laserbrain Patch Co. This patch is inspired by the very first dystopian novel I ever read (circa 1998) and it's still a favorite of mine - The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Zombie Sleep Mask --- From Archie McPhee. I find this both hilarious and awesome at the same time. I even occasionally use a sleep Mask so that's a plus for me.

Bookmark --- A double sided bookmark that's just beautiful and is an exclusive from Hey Atlas Creative. Anything with even a remote connection to Sarah J. Maas and the ACOTAR series makes me happy. It's one of my favorite series in history and I'm obsessed.

New World Rising by Jennifer Wilson --- I got ridiculously excited when I heard we were getting a second book in the June box thanks to Oftomes Publishing. It's the first in s new trilogy from a debut author. Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

"Since witnessing her parents' murders at the age of eleven, Phoenix's only purpose in life has been to uphold her mother's dying words - to be strong and survive. But surviving outside of The Walls - outside of The Sanctuary - is more like a drawn-out death sentence. A cruel and ruthless city, Tartarus is run by the Tribes whose motto is simple, "Join or die."

Refusing to join and determined to live, Phoenix fights to survive in this savage world. But who can she trust, when no one can be trusted? Not even herself..."

The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson --- Another Owlcrate exclusive cover! Yay! Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

"Before the war, Eden’s life was easy—air conditioning, ice cream, long days at the beach. Then the revolution happened, and everything changed.

Now a powerful group called the Wolfpack controls the earth and its resources. Eden has lost everything to them. They killed her family and her friends, destroyed her home, and imprisoned her. But Eden refuses to die by their hands. She knows the coordinates to the only neutral ground left in the world, a place called Sanctuary Island, and she is desperate to escape to its shores.

Eden finally reaches the island and meets others resistant to the Wolves—but the solace is short-lived when one of Eden’s new friends goes missing. Braving the jungle in search of their lost ally, they quickly discover Sanctuary is filled with lethal traps and an enemy they never expected.

This island might be deadlier than the world Eden left behind, but surviving it is the only thing that stands between her and freedom. "

I do so love when they include a bookplate signed by the author.

As always, there is a letter from the author to Owlcrate subscribers. There's also a bit of book swag this month in sticker form.

I mean, do I really have to say it? Are you really unaware of how truly amazing Owlcrate is? Month after month after month, they impress, delight, and surprise me in the best ways possible. It's the box I look forward to every month and count the days until the next one ships. I just adore it!
