Two weeks into the school year and I'm already pooped. I don't know how my kid manages to maintain the energy level he does. Up at 6, then school, then football practice, an hour to shower and do homework and off to bed. Hell, I'm beat and I'm not the one playing sports. The joys of getting older I guess! I always feel better when I find a nice 'just for me' surprise waiting on me when I get home though and today it's FlourishBox!
FlourishBox by Thread & Flourish, who kindly sent this box my way for review, is a bi-monthly fashion subscription service. FlourishBox delivers stylish, handcrafted Fair Trade scarves from artists and sustainable sources all over the world. They provide high quality, stylish scarves plus two additional bonus items from trusted suppliers who uphold ethical standards with fair wages and safe working environments for their employees. The box is priced at $39.95 and ships out bi-monthly (every 2 months).
Included inside is a nice information card that details each item you'll find in your Summer edition box.
Conservation Bracelet --- This bracelet from I Love Gurus, is a take on the classic wish bracelet. It's designed to fall off after a few months of wear and for each bracelet sold, ilovegurus.com will plant a tree in a developing community!
A very simple piece but it's super cute when you put it on! Wear it as a reminder to conserve, recycle, and do good for the environment and help to change the world
Black & White Key Scarf --- On to the main event! Isn't this just so beautiful? I am in love with the design! It's a Greek key motif that is designed after the river Meander in Ancient Greece (present day Turkey). The scarf itself is 100% Cotton, Eco-Friendly and Fair trade and comes from a woman's sewing cooperative (that is certified by the World Fair Trade Organization) in Bangalore, India. The artists at this cooperative are provided a sustainable and appropriate salary, job security, loans and financial assistance as needed, health care, on the job training, and safe working conditions.
I adore style and subscription boxes and I especially love when they are supporting a cause. You can look fabulous, help (in a small way) people trying to support themselves and their family's, and be globally responsible. I think that's a pretty flippin' fantastic thing!
